The Indio Police Department is responsible for services associated with enforcement of local, state and federal statutes, public safety, traffic enforcement and maintaining public order. The basic and most essential responsibilities of the Indio Police Department are to protect life and property. This is accomplished through the administration of Chief Brad Ramos and three Divisions within the department. The Divisions include: Field Services, Special Services and Support Services. The department uses traditional and non-traditional programs to address issues and provide services within the community. These programs include: police canine (K-9) teams, police motorcycles, code enforcement, animal control, police reserves, cadets, citizens on patrol, neighborhood watch, public relations, a Chaplin program, Indio Youth Task Force, adopt a school, school resource officer, the Youth Accountability Team (YAT), cops and jocks, and a citizen direct message system called "Reverse 911". The Indio Police Department embraces the concepts of community policing and partners with the citizens of Indio on a daily basis to develop proactive strategies and solutions for crime and quality of life issues. | |
