Under the direction of the Community Development Department the Building and Safety Division is responsible for review of building plans for approval, issuance of Building Permits and Building Inspections.

New building construction requires submittal of plans. Where engineering is part of the design, it should be prepared by a licensed professional engineer or architect. Each plan sheet should bear their stamp and wet signature. Each permit application is required to submit three copies of plans. The only types of permits that do not require plan submittals are appliance installation or replacements.

Building inspections are required to be requested on or before 12:00 P.M the business day before the desired inspection date. Requests received after 12:00 P.M. will be scheduled for the 2nd business day following the request.

Any requests received after 12:00 P.M. will not be scheduled for the next day.

Inspection requests can be made one of the three following ways:

  • By Telephone (760) 391-4001
  • In Person at the Building Counter
  • By Fax ( 760) 391-4003

Inspection requests cannot be scheduled with the Building Inspector in the Field.
