City Seeks Applications for
Community Grant Opportunity
Indio City Council Dedicates Funds to Organizations Serving Indio Residents & Businesses
Indio, Calif., (July 10, 2012) – The City of Indio is inviting local non-profit and governmental organizations to apply for funding under the annual Community Grant Program to support their organization. Indio puts out a call for projects on an annual basis and requires organizations to submit an application for consideration of their funding request. The Indio City Council has made the program available for the new fiscal year running from July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013.
“We recognize the need to investment in our community and organizations in order to enhance the quality of life for Indio’s residents and create new opportunities for the business community, said Indio Mayor, Glenn Miller. The deadline to apply is August 31, 2012 and applications can be found on the City’s home page at www.indio.org. “We will be accepting applications over until the end of August to provide ample time for applicants to submit; and we are available to assist them through the process,” added Community Services Manager, Jim Curtis. This will be the only time in the fiscal year that funding requests will be considered.
Applications are evaluated on a set criteria:
1) Nonprofit or Governmental Agency – Requests for funds can only be authorized for recognized nonprofit organizations or governmental agencies providing a service that benefit residents of Indio. Funding amounts cannot exceed $5,000 and priority will be given to organizations who do not receive financial support from the city through another manner.
2) Service(s) to the Indio Community – Funding will be granted to organizations/agencies that directly benefit Indio resident in the form of enhancement of quality of life, delivery of an identifiable service, or the organization provides services in Indio.
3) Economic Development, Marketing and Support of the Indio Business Community - Funding will be provided to organizations or governmental agencies that will strengthen the business community of Indio, supports the city’s overall economic development program, or enhances Indio’s marketing capacity and recognition in the region.
4) Funding requests must meet the first criteria and at least one of items defined in the second and third criterion.
