The Coachella Valley Art Center (CVAC) is an innovative non-profit facility for the Arts developed by the Coachella Valley Arts Alliance to provide access to artists on all levels: the established professional, the beginner, as well as the student working towards a future in the Arts. CVAC was designed to cultivate introductions – new concepts, new art, artists, community, history – all cross-pollinating in an atmosphere of inquiry and accomplishment. The Coachella Valley Art Center was designed to be a place where new intersections of art and culture emerge. In times where our community relies on the Arts more than ever CVAC will serve as an epicenter of creative output.
CVAC is an outgrowth of the Coachella Valley Arts Alliance. For over a decade the mission of the CV Arts Alliance has been “to enhance the creative vitality of the Coachella Valley.” CVAC is the beginning of a solution to meet the needs of the Coachella Valley’s ever-growing creative community. CVAC will be headquartered in a 17,000 square foot building that has been a part of Indio’s downtown for decades. Along with cultivating artistic growth and exposure within the community, CVAC will also showcase and preserve the founding ideas and history of Arts' creative ancestors through gallery exhibits and a wide range of educational programs and workshops.
As of July 2011, The CVAC building has begun major renovations. What was once the CV Printing Company will become studios for painting, photography, ceramic, glass and film production alongside the central area of gallery/exhibition space. Art classrooms, meeting and office space inside CVAC will be utilized by the Coachella Valley and Riverside County region. These efforts, like all community oriented projects, need community involvement and support. We invite you to join us in the process!
