FIRST NEW HOTEL IN OVER 25 YEARS SET TO BREAKGROUND THIS WEEK

INDIO, Calif. (March 6, 2013) – Indio city officials and Holiday Inn Express Developer, Howard Parks will break ground on a new 47,684 square foot hotel this Friday, March 8th at 11am (84-096 Indio Springs Drive). The construction of this hotel marks the first time in 28 years that a new hotel has been built in the city. The three story Holiday Inn Express Suites Hotel will have 89 rooms, incorporate modern design, and include the latest services provided by the hotel brand.
“The development a new hotel serves as a catalyst for new economic growth, great opportunities, and brightens the future of our city,” said Indio’s Mayor, Elaine Holmes. “This is very exciting for Indio!” she added.

The addition of a new hotel will boost city revenues through the collection of transient occupancy tax (TOT) of guests who will stay overnight in the hotel.
Construction of the hotel begins this Friday and developer Howard Parks anticipates it being operational in 9 months. The hotel site will be adjacent to another hotel as well as the Fantasy Springs Resort & Casino, which are all located along Interstate 10 with a cross connection to Highway 86 (NAFTA Corridor).
The groundbreaking ceremony will feature Indio’s Mayor and Council Members, Developer Howard Parks and representatives from the Coachella Valley Economic Partnership, Coachella Valley Enterprise Zone, Indio Chamber of Commerce, and Cabazon Band of Mission Indians. Lunch will follow the groundbreaking event.
