Almost everyone uses batteries and many of these batteries end up in a landfill. Although waste batteries are a
small amount of the solid waste stream, they are a concentrated source of some types of heavy metals. The main constituents of concern for human health and the environment include: cadmium, lead and mercury.
The City of Indio provides opportunities for battery recycling at facilities throughout the City. Anyone is welcome to drop off household batteries in designated containers at the following locations:
