Dan Martinez, Indio's City Manager was appointed by the city council on July 7, 2010.
Prior to serving as Indio's City Manager, Mr. Martinez worked for the County of Riverside as Managing Director of the Economic Development Agency (EDA), an agency with approximately 1,000 employees in 22 diverse divisions that include economic development, redevelopment, foreign trade, county libraries, airports, housing development, capital project management, and the Riverside County Fair and National Date Festival.
Mr. Martinez grew up in Indio where his parents and many members of his family still reside. He graduated from Indio High School and College of the Desert before attending California State University San Bernardino (CSUSB) where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1986. Mr. Martinez also graduated from the San Bernardino Valley College Extended Police Academy in 1995 and served as a Welfare Fraud Investigator and Supervising Fraud Investigator while employed with the County Department of Public Social Services. Mr. Martinez’s experience in county government includes seven years during which he was stationed in the cities of Indio, Palm Desert and Palm Springs. Simply stated, Mr. Martinez has deep roots in the Coachella Valley, especially in the City of Indio.
Mr. Martinez and his wife Anna are the proud parents of one son and two daughters, all of whom are currently attending college. The Martinez’s are proud residents of Indio and Mr. Martinez is a member of the Indio Noon Rotary Club, serves on the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital Governing Board and received the recognition as a Paul Harris Fellow. His wife Anna is the Assistant Director of Riverside County's Department of Public Social Services and is a member of the Woman's Club of Indio.
