Tire Recycling Events

The 2013 events are scheduled!

The City of Indio is committed to enhancing the local environment and takes pride in being a good steward of the Indio community.  The City of Indio hosts waste tire take back events.  At each of these events, people from anywhere in the Coachella Valley can bring waste tires and drop them off for free.  The  tires are taken to a recycling facility.  It is a free, simple, and easy way to dispose of old tires.  Indio has scheduled three events for 2013:

April 6, June 29 and October 19th at the Home Depot on Jackson street from 8:00 a.m. until noon. Click here for more information or call 760-625-1815.

  • All tires must be removed from rims
  • Passenger car and truck tires ONLY
  • Only nine (9) tires can be transported for collection at one time.  Multiple trips are acceptable.
  • No tires accepted from businesses or non-profit organizations

The purpose of tire recycling is to collect, remove and recycle waste tires from illegal tire piles and areas where illegal dumping has occurred.  40 million tires a year are generated in California alone, so it is important to keep them out of the landfill and out of our environment.  Old tires provide shelter for rodents,  lower property values and in landfills tires consume up to 75 percent air space.
