The City of Indio worked to secure federal funding following Tropical Storm Hilary to provide a permanent solution to the damages incurred to Avenue 44 (between Golf Center Parkway and Apache Street), along with city funds and support from Coachella Valley Association of Governments (CVAG), totaling $30 million. The City solicited and received several bids for the bridge construction. As part of the funding requirements, CalTrans requires review of the bids prior to allowing the City to award the contract and to begin construction. CalTrans is in the process of reviewing the bids at this time and once the City of Indio receives bid approval from CalTrans, we will proceed with awarding the contract. The Avenue 44 all-weather bridge will provide residents with a lasting solution to benefit generations to come.
