INDIO, CA (April 2, 2026) – The City of Indio continues to build momentum on its long-term investment in public safety infrastructure, advancing the next major phase of its Public Safety Campus with the development of a new, state-of-the-art police headquarters.

Following the successful completion of the first phase of the campus, which includes a new fire station, a dispatch center, and a two-story public safety services building, the new modern headquarters that will serve as the central hub for police operations and community engagement for decades to come will be entering the construction phase this summer.

The new $45 million police headquarters will serve as the primary hub for Indio Police Department personnel, including police officers, sergeants, community service officers, support staff, and command staff. The facility will feature locker rooms, workstations, offices, a gym and training area, meeting and interview rooms, and public spaces designed to enhance community engagement.

“Indio is a growing community, and we are committed to investing in the infrastructure needed to support that growth,” said Mayor Elaine Holmes. “This new police headquarters is a critical step in ensuring our city remains safe, resilient, and well-prepared to serve our residents for generations to come.”

The anticipated construction timeline is:

· Mobilization for Construction: Spring 2026

· Groundbreaking Ceremony: Summer 2026

· Beam Signing: Fall 2026

· Building Completion/Ribbon Cutting: Winter 2027–2028

· Demolition of Old Building/Project Completion: Spring 2028

“As our city continues to grow, so does the demand for high-quality public safety services,” said Chief of Police Brian Tully. “It will give our officers and staff the tools they need to best serve our community and maintain the highest level of service for our residents and those visiting the City of Indio year-round.”

The City of Indio remains committed to investing in infrastructure that keeps pace with growth and supports a high standard of public safety. The new Police Headquarters will play a vital role in serving the community today and preparing for the needs of tomorrow.
