Avenue 44 @ Golf Center Parkway: (Lane reductions at intersection, NIGHT WORK) 

Where: At the intersection of Avenue 44 & Golf Center Parkway

When: February 19, 2026 – Night Work from 7:00 pm to 4:00 am

What: Installation of water line improvements for a proposed 44 multi-family housing development.

Why: The developer is required to complete these water improvements for Indio Water Authority.

Traffic Impacts:

  • Lane closures and modified traffic patterns at the intersection of Avenue 44 & Golf Center Parkway.
  • Expect delays or plan to use alternate routes.

Safety:

Traffic control measures will be in place to protect drivers, pedestrians, and construction workers.

Plan Ahead:

Use alternate routes when possible and allow extra travel time.

Indio Blvd at Jefferson St: (Lane reduction WB Lane) Westbound traffic will be reduced down to 1 lane. One of the two left turn lanes for northbound Jefferson St to Westbound Indio Blvd (towards the freeway) will be closed. 

  • January 27, 2026 - March 31, 2026
  •  Street and utility improvements are being made on the north side of Indio Boulevard to support the new development. Work includes new water lines, sidewalks, curbs, driveways, and road widening.
  • Use alternate routes when possible and allow extra travel time.

The developer of the project north of Indio Blvd is required to make public improvements along Indio Blvd.

Avenue 48 between Madison St and Monroe St: (Lane reduction EB lane) Underground utility improvements are being installed in Avenue 48 to support a new development. 

  • February 9 - 27, 2026
  • One of the two eastbound lanes will be closed between 8AM - 5PM
  • Specific work area is on the southside of Avenue 48 between Madison Street and Calle Diamante. 
  • Work includes the installation of Imperial Irrigation District lines. 

The developer of the project is required to install these utility lines to energize their property.

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2026 – REQUA AVE ROAD CLOSURES; JACKSON ST LANE REDUCTIONS (DAYTIME)

Time: 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Requa Ave – Between Towne St and Jackson St
Requa Avenue will be fully closed for placement of the final hot asphalt surface across the full roadway width.

  • Signed detour will be posted
  • Access at Smurr St and Towne St will not be available until the new asphalt has cooled sufficiently for vehicles
  • Intersections will reopen overnight
  • Fargo St will remain closed

 Jackson St – Between Hwy 111 and the Railroad Bridge

Jackson Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction while crews mill the top asphalt layer.

  • Work will begin in the inside lanes and shift to outside lanes mid-day
  • One lane in each direction will remain open at all times
  • Traffic control and flaggers will direct vehicles

 Expect delays and allow extra travel time.

 FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2026 – JACKSON ST LANE REDUCTIONS (DAYTIME)

Time: 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Location: Jackson St between Hwy 111 and the Railroad Bridge

Jackson Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction while crews place the final asphalt cap.

  • Crews will start with inside lanes and shift to outside lanes mid-day
  • One lane in each direction will remain open
  • Traffic control and flaggers will be on site

Expect delays and allow extra travel time.

 

MONDAY & TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 23–24, 2026 – INTERMITTENT TRAFFIC CONTROL

Time: 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Locations:

  • Requa Ave between Towne St and Jackson St
  • Jackson St between Hwy 111 and the Railroad Bridge

Crews will be adjusting manholes and valves. Temporary traffic control will be set up and moved as work progresses.

  • Vehicles will be able to pass around active work areas
  • Short delays should be expected

 Please allow extra travel time.

Avenue 44 @ Lago Vista:  This project will eventually install a new traffic signal at this intersection. There is a delay in some of the signal equipment, however the contractor is going to do some of the underground work in advance of the equipment arriving. 

  • Mondays - Fridays, January 26, 2026 to February 20, 2026. 7:00 am - 5:00 pm.
  •  Contractor will install conduits, foundations, utility boxes, and corner ramps.
  • You will see work at the corners of the intersections, there will be some lanes closed during work hours, however at least 1 travel lane will be maintained for vehicles to get through the area in each direction. 

Expect delays or consider using alternate routes if possible.
