Miles Avenue Pipeline Project update notice

Heavy traffic expected Tuesday to Thursday, March 29-31

INDIO, Calif. (March 28, 2022) –

As part of the City of Indio / Indio Water Authority’s ongoing work on the Miles Avenue Pipeline, valve related concrete work will occur at the project site from March 29 to March 31 between 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Traffic is expected to get backed up in both directions in the vicinity of Miles Avenue and Jefferson Street during this time, as the signal will be on red flash. Area schools have been notified, and the red flash is scheduled to begin after school-drop off to minimize the impact to drivers.

Friday’s work will mark a key phase of completion for the Miles Avenue Pipeline, which entails construction of approximately 3,700 linear feet of 18-inch pipeline along Miles Avenue to increase water pressure and provide additional fire flow capacity within the service area. Additional construction will take place on Miles Avenue in the future as part of the regular citywide slurry schedule.
