The dog park on Golf Center Parkway – which opened in January 2017 – has received its official name: Station 87 Dog Park.
Following a public naming contest which received more than 50 entries, the Indio Community Services Commission submitted three finalists to City Council at the September 6, 2017, Council Meeting for consideration: Station 87 Dog Park, Freedom Bark Park and City of Festivals Dog Park.
Station 87 Dog Park was the winning entry, and a dedication ceremony will be held in coming months. It is located at Avenue 43 and Golf Center Parkway next to Riverside County’s Fire Station 87, at 42900 Golf Center Parkway.
The dog park has 2 sections – one for large dogs and another for small dogs. It provides trees and covered benches for shade areas, solar lights, water stations and expansive turf areas.
The City’s first dog park, Mulligan Dog Park, is located at 45355 Van Buren Street and was constructed in 2007.
Watch for other developments the City of Indio is working on to make the community the most “pet friendly” city in the Coachella Valley!
