In September 2016, the community of Indio met with city representatives to imagine a new Miles Avenue Park – one that is better suited for the needs of its citizens and makes the most out of funding provided by the California Department of Housing and Community Development’s Housing Related Parks Program. The new Miles Avenue Park will certainly make residents proud.
Buildings were razed and asphalt torn up – making way for new irrigated turf able to host a number of sports and other games. Four new Musco sports field light poles will guarantee longer playing hours and greater safety. Three gazebos in the new area will be perfect for picnicking, and a new skate park will connect young people of all ages – building a community around a shared interest.
Of course, with all of these new elements, more people will surely want to visit the park. For the increased number of visitors, a new 50-space parking lot has been built. The last phase is underway, so get ready to enjoy all that the redesigned Miles Avenue Park has to offer!
