The City of Indio is currently seeking applications to fill a vacancy on the Sustainability Commission.
The Indio Sustainability Commission is dedicated to contributing to a clean and healthy environment, preserving cultural and historic resources, promoting community engagement and creating a thriving economy.
Sustainability is based on a simple principle: Everything that we need for survival and well-being depends, either directly or indirectly, on our natural environment. Sustainability creates and maintains the conditions under which humans and nature can exist in productive harmony, that permit fulfilling the social, economic and other requirements of present and future generations.
The Environmental Programs Section is responsible for the coordination, implementation and enforcement of environmental programs for the City. The section oversees air quality, recycling and trash collection, water conservation, and storm water pollution management.
