California CareForce – a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to free health, dental and vision services for residents all over California – provided free health care for more 1,523 individuals in its 6th year of the Coachella Valley Clinic at the Riverside County Fairgrounds in Indio from March 23-25.
The volunteer-based workforce provided 7,871 procedures and $668,672 in critical care at no charge to those served. Over 17,000 hours were volunteered by 1,000 professional and general volunteers, the value of which is more than $47,000 worth of time contributed.
The clinic had 90 dental stations, 10 medical exam rooms and 10 vision lanes. Its vision lab produced 459 pairs of eyeglasses, made on-site, plus 114 specialty eyeglasses ordered for free. There were 626 eye exams given.
A number of dentistry services were provided, such as 542 dental x-rays, 520 fillings, 611 extractions and 29 partial dentures. Other medical services included 297 medical exams, 1,635 blood pressure tests, 112 labs and 76 referrals.
Sponsors included Goldenvoice, The California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Patterson Dental, Hu-Friedy, Glidewell Dental Labs, The Auen Foundation, and the RAP Foundation. In-kind sponsors include KUNA-TV Telemundo, La Poderosa 96.7 FM and SunLine Transit Agency.
