After a lengthy search for a new home in the Coachella Valley, the Academy of Musical Performance has secured space at 82713 and 82719 Miles Avenue in downtown Indio after approval by the Indio City Council on September 19, 2018. The 3,500 square foot city-owned building near the southeast corner of Oasis Street and Miles Avenue will host after school music classes, workshops, rehearsals, concert production skill training, and live performances for students in grades 6-12. AMP's presence will further activate downtown Indio amidst a burgeoning arts & entertainment district already supported by the Coachella Valley History Museum, Coachella Valley Art Center, Indio Performing Arts Center, and Desert Theatreworks. AMP Studio will also be hosting a Music and Art Open House November 8, 2018 from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Partnering with Sarah Scheideman from Coachella Valley Art Scene (CVAS), who will showcase music themed art works that she has produced, the Music and Art Open House will be held at the new AMP Studio on Miles Avenue in downtown Indio and is open to the public. Food and non-alcoholic drinks will be served. “My hope is that these large-scale art pieces will be as inspiring as the music they create. It’s an honor to be included in AMP’s opening, these kids rock!” said Sheideman.
